Guest Terms & Conditions

Coronavirus restriction: A full refund or postponement of the booked holiday will be made by the Owner if government restrictions prevent holiday-lets from being used. Should a Guest not be able to go ahead with booked holiday due to a government-enforced lockdown a postponement of the booked holiday will be allowed.

Check-In/Out times change: Due to the new cleaning requirements as per the government, the Check-in time has changed to 1700hrs and after, while the Check-out time has changed to 0900hrs on Saturday. This is to ensure the cleaning crew have sufficient time to adhere to the government’s guidelines with regard to keeping occupants COVID-19 safe.

A full refund or postponement of your stay will be issued, should your booking dates be within a newly announced lockdown.


Agreement: The booking contract is between the Owner of Longships and the Guest. The contract takes effect once the Guest has made payment for a booking and a confirmation of the booking email has been issued by the Owner.

Booking: The Guest making the booking must agree to the Terms & Conditions and is responsible for all persons included in the booking and should ensure they are all aware of the same Terms & Conditions. The Owner of Longships has the right to decline any booking or refuse to hand over a key to any person/Guest who had not complied with the Terms & Conditions.

Payment: Full payment needs to be made at the time of booking unless a prior agreement has been made with the Owner of Longships. On receipt of payment, an email acknowledging the booking will be sent out from the Owner to the Guest.

Payments to be made via secure card transaction or Paypal.

Cleaning: The Guest is responsible for leaving Longships in good order and in a clean condition. The Guest is required to leave Longships in a similar state to which they find it, excluding reasonable cleaning and linen. The towels & linen provided are for use within Longships and not to be taken outside the property. Guests will need to bring their own towels and linen for outside/beach use. Should Longships be found in a state of disorder or improper use, the Guest will be levied with a fine or banned from visiting the property again.

Number of Guests using Longships: Longships sleeps a maximum of 4 people, the 4 people can comprise of kids and adults or only adults. There is the availably of a travel cot, in the case of a baby being present. Any person below the age of 3 is not counted within the above stated 4 people. 

The Owner permits only for members of the Guest’s party (as stated in the booking form) and no one else to occupy Longships. The Guest must declare the correct number of people staying at the point of making the booking and not exceed the permissible number of occupants.

Failure to abide by this requirement will lead to the Guest being fined or being banned form the property in future.

Arrival/Departure (Check special notices in event to changes): Each booking at Longships is from Saturday to Saturday and the Guests can check in any day they choose after 1500hrs on the Saturday of the start of booking. Longships has to be vacated by 1000hrs on the following Saturday of the booking.

Cancellations or Changes by the Guest: Once the holiday is booked the Guest has entered into a legally binding contract. If the Guest cancels the below conditions are the applicable:

  • Cancellations made before 8 weeks from date of booking will not incur any cancelation fees. 
  • Cancellations made between 8-4 weeks from date of booking will incur a 10% of the rental fees being withheld and the remaining refunded. 
  • Cancellations made between 3-2 weeks from date of booking will incur a 50% of the rental fees being withheld and the remaining refunded. 
  • Cancellations made with 1 week and less remaining from date of booking will incur a 75% of the rental fees being withheld back and the remaining refunded. 

The Cancellation Terms & Conditions are standard for all cancellations unless discussed with Owner and a one-off arrangement has been made.  Cancellations can be actioned through the ‘My Booking’ page when you log into your account or by following the cancellation link provided in the booking confirmation email.

Pets: No pets allowed at Longships, including assistance/service dogs.

Disability: Longships, unfortunately, is not disability approved due to the way it has been constructed.

Guest Responsibility: The supervision of children, babies and any of the Guests remains the responsibility of the Guest at all times. Guests must put all furniture etc back to the way it was at the beginning of the booked stay. Guests should not leave any items loose around the property (apart from the weeks waste in bin bag in the provided rubbish bin) and, I left the Owner reserves the right to charge for the removal, return or dispose of those items. 

Damage, Loss, Theft: In the event of any damage or loss to property within Longships or to Longships itself (excluding reasonable wear and tear incurred during stay), the Guests agree to inform the Owners. The Owner reserves the right to charge the Guest reasonable replacement costs.

Nuisance: Guests should not cause disturbance or pose a nuisance to neighbouring occupants within The Old Hotel campus.

If the Owner should be alerted by The Old Hotel of any disturbances or nuisances, the Owner reserves the right to cancel the stay and repossess the property immediately. The Guest will remain liable for the whole cost of the rental and no refund shall be due.

Parking: Longships has 2 allocated spaces for parking (one alongside back garden and one in front of the building just off the road) and are sign posted as ‘Longships Parking’. The Guests, with every booking, agree to park responsibly within only the Longships allocated parking bays and not block other parking bays.

Property: Longships is a duplex house within The Old Hotel in Porthcurno. Longships description and all details both written and verbal are given in good faith and are believed to be correct, any interpretation thereof is subjective and so accuracy cannot be guaranteed. Longships and The Old Hotel details may vary over time from photographs and descriptions on the website. 

It is the responsibility of the Guest to read up on the Longships website the facilities available within the property, the Owner is not responsible for any facility that is not provided.

No Smoking: Longships has a strict no smoking policy that Guests will need to adhere to whilst on property. 

Access: The Main entrance to Longships is a shared entrance to other properties within The Old Hotel and so the Guest must ensure the area outside Longships is not blocked in any way.

Gardens: The garden that Longships opens up to at the back leads to The Old Hotels shared communal garden. The Guest should not cause any disturbance in the garden and ensure they clean up after themselves when using the gardens. The Owner reserves the right to levy a fine on the Guest should the garden be left in a state of uncleanliness. 

Complaints Procedure: If a Guest has a compliant, the Owner or care agency should be contacted immediately, using the contact information given within the ‘Information Folder’ on site. The compliant needs to be reported as soon as possible, thus giving the Owner or care agency the opportunity to resolve it. No complaints can be accepted unless notified immediately and during the booking period.

If a complaint cannot be resolved and the Guest wished to take the matter to court, this needs to be done at the court nearest to the Owners address. Any assistance provided by the care agency during you booking is provided only as a goodwill gesture. 

Liability: The Owner cannot accept responsibility for any material damage, additional expense or inconvenience directly or indirectly caused by or arising out of the property, its plumbing, gas, electrical services or exceptional weather.

No responsibility is accepted for loss or damage of property, vehicles or vehicle contents belonging to the Guest or any member of the party during their occupancy.

The maximum liability accepted by the Owner will be the total cost of the holiday/booking as paid by the Guest. No other expenses such as travelling costs or alternative accommodation will be accepted.

 Cancellation by Owners: The Owner reserves the right to refuse any booking and to cancel any bookings already made if the property is unavailable (e.g. through fire, flood, etc) for any reason whatsoever, subject to a full refund of all monies paid (but no further liability). The Owner shall not be under any other liability if such cancellation occurs. 

Force Majeure: The Owner cannot accept responsibility or liability for any alterations, delay or cancellation or any other loss or damage caused by war, civil strife, terrorist action, industrial disputes, fire, sickness, bad weather, epidemics, acts of any government or public authority, or any other event outside our control.

Waiver: The failure of the Owner to enforce or exercise, at any time or for any period of time, any term of, or any right pursuant to this agreement does not constitute and shall not be construed as a waiver of such term or right.

Miscellaneous: The Guest agrees that the contract with the Owner is made at the Owner’s premises and that any proceedings between the parties shall be conducted in the County Court nearest to the Owner.

Longships Website Policy 

Guests personal information: Owners of Longships are committed to the responsible use of any personal data that are collected during the Guest’s interaction with Longships website and any bookings made. There will be no storage or collection of personal data on the website without Guest consent. The Owners will use information gathered only to contact Guests before, during or after the Guests’ stay. Whilst creating an account the Guests will be given the option whether they would like their data to be saved or not.

Guest personal information is never, and will never, be shared with anyone, for any purpose, by any of the above.

Cookies: Like most websites Longships uses cookies to deliver a smooth user experience as well as to help us better understand our visitors. Your browser will allow you to disable cookies should you wish to, though this may diminish your user experience on our sites. The main areas in which cookies (small files that record interactions and which reside on your own device) are used are:

  • To gain visitor statistics through third-party application Google Analytics
  • To manage maps through third-party application Google Maps
  • To record search preferences and favourites
  • Other minor functional uses such as displaying certain elements only once during an initial visit

Data retention: Our booking provider (HLB) keeps personal information (excluding bank/credit card details) to allow for a record of Guests to help us understand trends and improve our service. Through HLB, our automatic data-retention policy is:

  • Personal booking information is maintained indefinitely for returning Guests, until such time as 10 years has passed without activity. After this period of inactivity (eg. the Guest has never re-booked), the personal data will be deleted and they will be removed from our mailing list
  • Guests will be given the option to opt-out of data saving whilst creating an account and so will not be part of a mailing list.

Marketing: Longships maintain, in line with GDPR rules, an ‘opt-in’ policy for marketing. The Guest will only receive emails should they have clearly chosen to do so via either verbal or written confirmation with the Owner or a clear indication through the website signup form or during booking. When marketing via email newsletters etc., a list managed by industry leaders MailChimp is utilised, and the Guest can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link in any email marketing communication.
